2014 Annual Report of BAS

The Bulgarian-American Society received many requests for financial assistance throughout 2014.  We provided grants for: 


  • University scholarship. Scholarship recipients were selected by the Detstvo and by the Bulgarian Charities Aid Foundation

  • Teaching Tolerance projects for students. This project is particularly important because of the rise of hate groups in Bulgaria and acts of violence  against minority  populations - MacKenzie Foundation

  • Communications training for young Roma professionals - Integro

  • CORPluS training for teachers of English in under-served areas - CORPluS developed from the Peace Corps in Bulgaria.           

Multi-cultural summer camps

  • Arete Foundation
  • Samokov community
  • Camp GLOW

Physical therapist in children's home

  • Tabitha Association

Baba program in children's homes 

  • Funding provided by several donations to BAS

 Renovation of dilapidated children's homes, schools and a community center 

  • Stara Zagora Community Foundation

Purchase of paint and equipment for volunteer painters and plasterers in an orphanage

Renovation of a computer lab and new computers

  • Funding provided by a special donation to BAS

Rehabilitation of a decrepit Elder Care.

  • This facility which provides hot showers, hot lunches and an hospitable environment for poor people in a small town.

The Bulgarian-American Society partners with honest non-profit organizations in Bulgaria to help orphanages, schools, community centers, and various important educational programs.  BAS received a generous grant from a private American foundation, but we rely on your tax-deductible donations to help the Bulgarian people.  BAS is a 501(c)(3) organization and all donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
